ILION – Evelyn E. Stitt, age 103, formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Folts Home, Herkimer. She was born on April 9, 1913, in Little Falls, the daughter of Roy H. and Mabel E. (Clark) Stitt. Evelyn graduated from Ilion High School, Albany Business College, and attended Russell Sage College. She was employed as an accountant at Iroquois Millwork Corporation in Albany for 24 years, retiring in 1978. Evelyn was a member and former Elder at the Ilion First Presbyterian Church, a 70 year member of the Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 Order of the Eastern Star, and member of AARP. Surviving family members include her nieces, Carolyn Lull and Cynthia Leslie; her nephew, Kirk Peters and his wife, Pamela; and special friends, George Maley and Thora Paton. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Thelma Stasco and Kathryn Stitt; and her half-sister, Jane Peters. Friends and relatives are invited to Evelyn’s Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ilion First Presbyterian Church, 90 Morgan St., Ilion. An Order of the Eastern Star Ritualistic Service will also be presented during the Memorial Service by members of the Evening Star Valley Chapter #82.
