R. “DEAN” DESROCHERS SCHUYLER – Dean, affectionately known as “Bumpa", passed away on Tuesday February 14, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, Town of New Hartford, where he was always surrounded by family. He was born December 14, 1931 in Dalton, New Hampshire, the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Bennet) Desrochers. He married Jean Moulton in Lisbon, New Hampshire on June 24, 1950. He worked on construction as an operator and mechanic. They moved to Schuyler in 1953 on Carter Lane. He moved with the construction company and settled on Millers Grove in 1958, having built their home in 1961. He ran different businesses in Schuyler and absolutely loved this town. He volunteered his time and energy to important aspects such as, Town Highway Superintendent for six years, Town Councilman for 24 years, as well as Charter Member and Past President of the Schuyler Historical Society. He loved volunteering at the Schuyler VFW and the East and West Schuyler Methodist Churches. He is survived by his wife, Jean, daughter Ardith Kraszewski and husband Walter of Schuyler, son Douglas Desrochers and wife Carol of New Hartford, Grandchildren, Deena and husband Robert Robertson, Jr. of Schuyler, Jared Tripoli and wife Candace of Westmoreland, Devon Kraszewski of Schuyler, and Jalene Kraszewski of Schuyler, and great-grandchildren Nicholas and Braelynne. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister. There will be no calling hours due to the donation of his body for medical research. In lieu of flowers it was Dean’s wish that a donation be sent in his memory to Schuyler Historical Society, East or West Schuyler UMC, the Schuyler VFW, or the Schuyler Fire Department. The family would like to thank the medical staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for their heartfelt services and tender care during his last hours. The doors will open at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Cindy Makarchuk will begin the service at 3:00 PM and food will follow.
