Obituary of Frank James

FORT PLAIN – World War II Veteran Frank James who was born on January 15, 1917 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 11, 2017 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He received excellent care there and the family is sincerely appreciative. He lived to 100. He was born in Richmond Hill, NY (Long Island) a son of the late Edward and Anna (Klug) James. He was married to the former Beverly Gottung who passed away February 2, 2001. Frank was a man of many talents and namely excelled in carpentry as well as operating the James Farm in Fort Plain for many years. And notably is the accomplished military career of Tech. Sgt. Frank James. 6th Army 158th Infantry Regiment “Bushmaster.” One of his many duties was to guard General Douglas MacArthur. Most notably, after the War, and well beyond his military service and work career was his greatest accomplishment in life; this was learning about Jehovah God; all those long beautiful years getting Baptized with his wife Beverly at his side serving Jehovah together until her passing in 2001. He is survived by his beloved family; his sons, Kevin James of Fort Plain, Edward James and his wife Nancy of Fort Plain, his grandchildren, Steven James and his wife Alissa of Clifton Park, NY, Jason James and his wife Amanda of Great Lakes, Illinois, Paul James of Utica and Loran VanArsdal of Fort Plain, his great-grandchildren, Lorelia, Garrett, Valerie, and Alexander, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews and his cherished cat “Miracle;” and he was predeceased by siblings, Edward, Bill, Margie, Bertha, and Florence. His memorial service led by David Tarbox will be held Saturday May 6th, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Route 5 in Palatine Bridge, NY. Following this the family will receive friends at the Fort Plain Community Senior Center on Center St. Fort Plain.
