Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Morgan

HERKIMER- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Morgan, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2017, at Valley Health Services, with the love and support of her family by her side. She was born on August 15, 1923 in Rochester, the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Lytle) Partlon. She came to Herkimer at a young age, attending St. Francis de Sales school and graduating from Herkimer High School. On February 19, 1949 , Betty joined in marriage to Richard F. Morgan at St. Francis de Sales rectory in Herkimer. Mr. Morgan died on October 28, 2004. Betty was last employed as a sales clerk at the Herkimer Camera Shop and also at one time worked for Standard Desk Factory and later, the Herkimer Evening Telegram. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. In Betty’s spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge and also was considered a worldwide traveler. Above all, Betty loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. Betty is survived by a son Dennis B. Morgan and Carol Bell of Westmoreland; a daughter Debora Marrone and husband Thomas of Mohawk; two grandchildren Thomas Marrone and wife Katie of Oswego and Kate Marrone and Fiancé Kenny Floyd of South Lake, Tahoe. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Cadance,Dawson and John.She enjoyed visits from nieces BJ, Beth and MaryLee. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, in laws, and her right hand man, Bob Rasch. Betty was predeceased by her brother Thomas Partlon. A special thanks goes out to her niece, Chris Dygert for her constant support, help, and kindness to her Aunt. The family also extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of 2 West at Valley Health Services, along with the compassionate care she received from Hospice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2017, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer (FKA Holleran Funeral Home). Funeral services will take place on Wednesday April 19, 2017, at 9:30AM from the funeral home and 10:00AM at St. Francis de Sales Church with Fr. Mark Cunningham celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis de Sales Church or to the Herkimer County Humane Society.
