Obituary of Anthony "Tony" DeAngelis
LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Anthony “Tony” DeAngelis, age 90, a longtime resident of Little Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer.
He was born on January 21, 1927 in Little Falls, a son of the late Lidano and Teresa (DiRaimo) DeAngelis. He was educated in Little Falls schools and went on to serve our country with the United States Navy during World War II. He was married to Anne Lanza on September 3, 1949 at St. Joseph’s Church with Father Lynch officiating. The couple lived on Garden Street since 1970. This was a loving union of 42 years until the passing of Mrs. DeAngelis on November 29, 1991. His occupation for many years was with Allegro Shoe Corporation where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement as Foreman. He then served as a groundskeeper for the City of Little Falls for about 20 years after retirement. He worked for the City until the age of 82. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish.
He is survived by his beloved family, his son Lee and his wife Rose of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and their daughters Judy and Gina Nielsen (husband Kyle), and his son Anthony and his wife Lisa of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and their sons Christian and Steven, his brother Peter DeAngelis and his wife Lucy of Little Falls and his sister Lena Liscio and her husband Michael of Little Falls and several nieces and nephews and his longtime companion Jean Grosse of Ilion, NY.
Calling hours are on Sunday April 30, 2017 from 2 until 4 PM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls. His funeral will begin Monday May 1st at 10:15 AM from the funeral home and at 11:00 AM his funeral Mass at Holy Family Parish Church corner of East Main and John Sts. in Little Falls with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Reverend Terence Healy will officiate assisted by Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo.
In lieu of floral offerings please donate in memory of Anthony DeAngelis to either Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. 4277 Middle Settlement Road New Hartford, NY 13413 www.hospicecareinc.org, and/or to Valley Health Services Development Fund 690 West German Street Herkimer, NY 13350 www.valleyhealthservices.org. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. These organizations were very helpful to Tony and his family is sincerely appreciative.
