Obituary of John J Costello

LITTLE FALLS- John (Jack) J. Costello, age 94, a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away on Wednesday May 10, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.

Born on March 24, 1923 in Little Falls, he was the son of the late John and Lelia (Woolridge) Costello. On April 27, 1944, he joined Anna Cecconi in marriage at Sacred Heart Church in Brooklyn, NY. She predeceased him.

Mr. Costello was a World War II Nv veteran and was honorably discharged on December 4, 1945. He was last employed as a Tea Machine Machinic for Salaa Foods for 44 years. Jack was a member of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls, DeCarlo Steffo Post, a life member of the Staff Sgt. Steve Stefula VFW Post, as well as the former Columbus Fraternal Organization. One of Jack’s greatest accomplishments was making The Murmansk Run during World War II.

Survivors include his two daughters Dalia (William) Harringshaw of Little Falls and Linda (Chris) Millinton of North Carolina; grandchildren Erik M. Harringshaw and Byron Millington; great-grandchildren Mina Harringshaw, Elijah, Mya, Ella, and Micah Millington; sister in-law Anna Cecconi, his beloved Canine companion, Cooch; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers James and Robert Costello.

In keeping with the wishes of Jack, funeral services and calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish in Little Falls, NY.
