Obituary of Mildred Alexanderowicz

MOHAWK – Mrs. Mildred Alexanderowicz, age 90, of Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 16, 2017, in the privacy and comfort of her home. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by the love and support of her devoted family at her bedside.

Born on September 21, 1926, Mildred was the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Mezick) Gala. She was a graduate of West Winfield High School and went on to further her education at the Utica School of Commerce. On May 31, 1947, Mildred was wed to Mr. Tendewsz “Ted” Alexanderowicz at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Herkimer, and together they shared in seventy years of marriage.

In her early years, to help with the war effort, Mildred worked at Remington Rand. She later took a position with Little Joe’s Dairy, where she worked as an accountant. She was a woman very devoted to her faith and was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church and a member of the St. Anne’s Altar Society. Nothing gave her more joy, however, than the time she spent with her beloved family, and she took great pride in watching it grow throughout the years.

She is survived by her husband, Ted; her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Angelos Tsiatsos of New Smyrna Beach, FL; her sons and daughters-in-law, Theodore “Ted” and Loralee Alexander of Beaver Falls, PA and John and Deborah Alexanderowicz of Vernon, CT; her grandchildren, Edward Wells-Tsiatsos and his wife, Julie, Jeffrey Alexanderowicz, Kerry and Ronald Kretz, Lisa Hess, JR Alexanderowicz, Amy Alexanderowicz and Seth Alexanderowicz; and one great-grandson, Logan Kretz. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, John and Rose Gala of FL; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Gala; and her sisters, Marion Demchko, Dorothy Kalthoff and Joan Clark.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Mildred’s visitation, which will take place on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017 from 9:30AM – 11:30AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home (FKA Holleran Funeral Service), 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer (315) 866-1011. Mildred’s funeral service will commence immediately upon conclusion of visitation, at 11:30AM at the funeral home and at 12:00 NOON at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Herkimer, where her funeral will be officiated by Father Thaddeus Franta. Procession will follow to Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
