Obituary of Geraldine M. Wren
LITTLE FALLS - Mrs. Geraldine M. “Gerry” Wren, age 83, of Little Falls, passed away on Tuesday June 7, 2017 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing. She was born on January 18, 1934 in Herkimer, NY, a daughter of the late Sydney H. and Inez (Matthews) Smith and had attended and graduated from Van Hornesville school. She had been a lifelong resident of this area. She was employed for many years and retired from Salada Tea in Little Falls. She found great joy in her abundant family, including her beloved husband of over 52 years, James B. Wren. The couple joined in marriage on January 17, 1953 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls, with the Rev. Edward H. Gilmour officiating. Jim passed away November 5, 2004. She was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls. Gerry spent many enjoyable moments gardening and taking photos. She will be dearly missed by her loving family including her children: Mark Wren and his wife Arlene of Maine; Susan Moretti and her husband Larry of Rhode Island; John Wren and his wife Terri of East Herkimer; Steven Wren and his wife Donna of Little Falls; Debra McDermott and her husband Mark of Cherry Valley; and son-in-law Daniel Beacraft of Little Falls. She will also be remembered by her brother Gerald Smith of Mohawk and her grandchildren: Daniel Beacraft, James Beacraft, Jarred Beacraft, Melanie Wren, Tyler McDermott, Emily McDermott, Sean Wren, Rob Minuck, Melissa Panella and Seth Rosario. In addition, she will be greatly missed by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, son Paul Wren, daughter Cynthia Beacraft and grandchildren: Blaise Wren, Rebecca Beacraft, Kenneth Wanamaker, and Jonathon Wanamaker. Family and friends may call at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Monday, June 12th from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 13th, 2017 at 10:15 AM from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street Little Falls and at 11:00 AM from the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Terence Healy assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. In lieu of flowers, those wishing are asked to consider donations in Gerry’s memory to either the Holy Family Parish or to the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. Envelopes may be obtained from the funeral home. Her family gratefully acknowledges the doctors, nurses and staff of Alpine for care given. Also, a very special thanks to Dr. Gregory O’Keefe.
