Wentworth was born in Portland, Jamaica, West Indies, where he attended school. When he was 9 years old, he immigrated to England to join his mother. He attended schools in Kent and Stafford, England prior to joining his family in Albany, N.Y. He was accompanied by father, James Bishop and his brothers James and Courtney Bishop in May 1970.
He attended Phillip Schuyler High School and later graduated from Albany High School. Upon graduating, he attended Sienna College where he studied Liberal Arts, Political Science.
He later joined the U. S. Army, where he served with the 101st Airborne, Fort Dix, NJ, and Company B, 24 Medical Battalion, FORSCOM, Korea as a Medical Specialist, from June 28, 1975 to June 15, 1983. He deployed and served in many other locations throughout the U. S., most notably in Alaska.
His Military Awards include: Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Air Assault Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/ Numeral 1.
After leaving the Army he worked as a car salesman, and at Radio Shack and Sounds Great. He finally concentrated on construction until he passed away from cancer. Wentworth "Pops" was a kind, giving, and loving person, who adored children, especially his adopted grandchildren: Nadia, Makayla, David, Jason, and Isiah, whom her spoiled and slept by his side to the end.
He was predeceased by his wife Beverly Bishop and father James Bishop, Sr. He is survived by his mother Dulcie Bishop Stewart, his Step-father Caleb Stewart, Brothers James Bishop, Courtney Bishop. His immediate family son, David Woodby, daughter in law, Toni Yager and Family; and Fiancée Theresa Bennett and her sons, including several aunts, uncles and relatives George Lindsay, in the U.S. Kenneth & Bernard Lindsay in the U.K. Aunt's Eileen Brown in Canada and Rose Chukwukere in New York. and several niece's, nephew's, and cousins in the United States, UK, Canada, and Jamaica.
