Obituary of Frances M. Streeter
ILION – Mrs. Frances M. (Sanders) Streeter, age 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died in her sleep on Tuesday morning, June 27, 2017, in the privacy and comfort of her home. Her passing was the result of a long-term battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
Born on November 16, 1931 in Frankfort, Frances was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Green) Sanders. She was raised and educated locally, graduating with the Ilion High School Class of 1950. On September 13, 1952, she was wed to Mr. Carl Streeter at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, and the couple shared in a blessed and fulfilling life together. Carl took great care of his dear Frances throughout every obstacle she faced, and was by her side up until the very end. They would be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this fall.
Frances was a longtime stay-at-home wife and mother, concurrently owning and operating the Credit Bureau of Herkimer County for many years. She also held positions with Oneida National Bank and Mohawk Data Science. She was very active in the Ilion Alumni Association, and in her spare time enjoyed cryptic quotes and playing cards with her bridge club.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 65 years, Carl; her daughter, Deborah Bullis of Ilion; her sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Sue Streeter of Ilion, Tom and Teri Streeter of Carthage, and John and Maurene Streeter of Ticonderoga; her ten grandchildren, Adam Bullis, Erin and Jason Dempsey, Lauren and Jake Purington, Karen and Chad Southwick, David Streeter, Justin and Britney Streeter, Cody and Pamela Streeter, Samantha Streeter and Quentin Jones, Bridget and Thomas Haina, and Matthew Streeter. She deeply loved and was loved by her thirteen great-grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. Additionally, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Sid Vivacqua, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she shared many happy experiences.
Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her sister, Helen Vivacqua.
