Obituary of Jacob L. Woodworth

MILLERS MILLS – Mr. Jacob L. “Jake” Woodworth, age 34, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, June 29, 2017, in the privacy and comfort of his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 24, 1983, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Jacob is the son of Pastor Charles “Ed” and Christine (Iffert) Woodworth. Jacob spent his childhood in Wayne County, NY, before moving to the outskirts of Skaneateles, spending some time on his family’s farm in Chittenango Falls, and eventually settling at his parents’ home on Millers Mills Road in West Winfield.

For a time, Jake attended ITT Technical Institute and for the last period of his life was employed with the Precisionmatics Company as a machinist. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and made many friends in his workplace before taking leave this past December due to his illness.

Jake was a computer and technology guru and was very active on social media and within the internet community. He was a voracious reader, who had a knack for Sci-Fi thrillers and Anime. He was very technical, intelligent, and kind, and faced his last days with bravery and dignity.

He is survived by his beloved parents, Ed and Chris, at home; his sister and brother-in-law, Eliza and Gary Goodfellow of Erieville, NY; his aunts and uncles, Diane and Greg Wright, Leon Woodworth, Mark and Jan Woodworth, and Robin Woodworth; two great-uncles, Kenneth Woodworth and his wife, Jean and Damon Kevillle and his wife, Diane;  along with several cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Emmy Woodworth; maternal grandmother, Mable Moody; and several great-aunts and uncles.

In honoring Jake’s wishes, his body will be cremated and laid to rest on his family farm in Chittenango Falls. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service, which will be held at the Community Baptist Church of Millers Mills on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00PM.

For those considering to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Jake's memory, to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502.
