Obituary of Paul J Savas

FAYETTEVILLE – Paul J. Savas of Fayetteville, NY passed away at the age of 35 on July 7, 2017.

Paul was born on July 15, 1981 in Herkimer, a son of Gregory P. and JoAnn (DePalo) Savas. He was a 2000 graduate of Herkimer High School, 2002 Herkimer County Community College graduate, and attended SUNY ESF. Currently, he was employed as a sales representative for Admar Positioning and Supply in Syracuse. On September 28, 2013 Paul married his high school sweetheart, Lisa (Knapp).  Their marriage was characterized by a sincere mutual love and adoration.

Paul had a wonderful sense of humor, a love of the outdoors, and an infectious energetic passion in all endeavors. His group hugs were well known for lifting spirits and emphasizing his caring nature. Simply stated, he lived for his loving wife, family, and loyal dog “Griff.”

He is survived by his beloved wife Lisa; his parents Greg and JoAnn of Herkimer, his father and mother-in-law, David and Sue Knapp, Sr. of Little Falls, his siblings, Cristy Szachta and husband Chris of Vestal, NY, Amanda Yesensky and husband Jeff of Ellicott City, MD, and Nicholas Savas and wife Catherine of Annapolis, MD, his brother-in-law David Knapp, Jr. and his wife Brandi of Little Falls, and Lisa’s grandmother Jennie Pettengill of Herkimer, his faithfull dog, Griff, nieces and nephews, Connor, Caelyn, Collin and Camden Szachta, and Lily and Sammy Yesensky, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Anna DePalo and Constantine and Catherine Savas, and Lisa’s grandparents Livia and Clarence Knapp, Raymond Pettengill, Jr. and his Godmother, Marie DePalo Glaser.

Calling hours are on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, NY. His Funeral Mass at St. Francis de Sales Church on North Bellinger Street in Herkimer is on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM., with Father Mark Cunningham, Pastor, officiating. The interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 9 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Paul’s memory.
