Obituary of David R. Heiland
ILION – David R. Heiland, age 67, of Watervliet, NY, formerly of Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, 2017, at home.
He was born on March 31, 1950 in Ilion, NY, the son of David “Bud” Heiland and Joyce (Young) Heiland. David graduated from Ilion Central High School and attended Albany Business School. Mr. Heiland was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Marines from 1970-1974. David was employed at Samaritan Hospital in Albany. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Mohawk American Legion.
Surviving family members include his aunt, Glenis Heiland, of Cedarville; his cousins, Tamara Heiland, of Herkimer and Laurie Heiland-Crouch and her husband, James Crouch, of Ilion; his uncle, Ronnie Young, of Herkimer; and several other cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Joyce Young (Heiland) Plumley; his father, David “Bud” Heiland; and his uncle, William “Bill” Heiland.
David’s funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location at 102 West St., Ilion.
In keeping with David’s wishes, there are no scheduled calling hours.
