Obituary of Doris A. Carrig

Doris A. Carrig, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23rd at the Westminster Retirement Community in Greenville, South Carolina, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Born on May 13, 1929, Doris was the eldest daughter of Leona Albright Kennedy and Erving E. Albright of Little Falls, NY. Doris spent much of her life in Little Falls and the Mohawk Valley, with later years spent in Miami, Florida and Greenville, South Carolina.  Along with her husband of 67 years, David A. Carrig (surviving), she enjoyed the last several years of her life at the Westminster Retirement Community.  Doris’s younger sister, Katherine and brother-in-law Thomas Murnane survive her, along with long-time friends / in-laws Tom and Theresa Carrig and Teddy Riley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was a superb cook and wonderful hostess, who loved to sew, knit, garden, read and take long walks.  She leaves us after providing her six children; Cynthia Calautti, David (Kris) Carrig, Jeffrey (Audrey) Carrig, Beth (Phillip) Doty, Dan (Jetta) Carrig and Jamie (Emma Cutie) Carrig; her 14 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren with not only wonderful memories, but also numerous quilts, recipes and hand-made items that will continue to brighten their lives.

Burial and service at the gravesite will be held on Saturday, August 5th at 11:00 AM at the Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls, NY, with a reception at the Elks Club, also in Little Falls, to follow.  Family and friends wishing to attend are invited to join her family in celebrating Doris’ life.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from First Light Home Care and Open Arms Hospice of Bon Secours, both of Greenville, SC. for the comfort and support she received.

Doris was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and we are thankful to have been a part of the dash between the day she entered the world and the day she left it.  She will be greatly missed.
