Obituary of Daniel J. Palmer
ILION – Mr. Daniel J. Palmer, age 55, of Ilion, passed away after a brief illness on Monday morning, August 7, 2017, in the privacy and comfort of home.
Born on January 3, 1962, Daniel was the son of the late Michael H. and Julianne (McKeon) Palmer. He was raised and educated locally and upon his graduation from high school, he enlisted with the United States Airforce. Daniel proudly served his country for four years and was honorably discharged in 1984.
Daniel worked for the NYS Thruway Authority as a toll collector for many years. Subsequently, he enjoyed his time bartending at the Ilion Knights of Columbus. He held memberships with the K of C, the American Legion, the Ilion Elks Lodge, the Ilion Moose Lodge and the Ilion Fish and Game Club. He had many friends throughout the community and was well-liked by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include an aunt, Mary Murphy; several cousins from the Palmer and McKeon sides of the family; and many loving friends from his workplaces that he considered to be his family.
In keeping with Dan’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. His earthly remains will be laid to rest with his parents in Armory Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, funeral directors of the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894
