Obituary of Josephine (Pacchiarotti) Cammarere

HERKIMER – Mrs. Josephine (Pacchiarotti) Cammarere, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, August 30, 2017, in the privacy and comfort of her son’s home. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by the love and support of her devoted family at her bedside.

Born on March 15, 1932, Josephine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Antonucci) Pacchiarotti. She was raised and educated in Dolgeville schools and spent much of her early years travelling throughout New York State. When she was in her mid-twenties, she met a young man named Ernest J. “Ernie” Cammarere at a local church function, and the two fell in love. On July 4, 1959, they exchanged their wedding vows at the Christian Assembly Church in Dolgeville and spent over 58 years in a blessed and devoted union.

Josephine spent many years as a homemaker, raising and tending to her husband and children. She went to work later in life, first in the cafeteria at Barringer Road School, and then as a machine operator for JoNell manufacturing in Herkimer, a position which she held for eighteen years until her retirement.

As a twenty-year member of the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church in Herkimer, Josephine exercised her strong Christian faith and passed on her devotion to others as a Sunday school teacher. At home, she was an excellent cook and hostess, taking every opportunity to gather those she loved into her home and around her table. One of her trademark sayings for truthful advice started with “I’m telling you this because I love you…” Her thoughtful, sweet, caring and warm personality was evident in the way she treated all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ernest; her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Martin Burrello of Herkimer; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Renee Cammarere of West Frankfort; her grandchildren, Bianca and AJ Smith, Jonathan Burrello, Rocco Cammarere, Elaina Burrello and Tressa Burrello; and one great-grandson, Dexter Smith. She also leaves her in-laws, Sarah Pacchiarotti of Seattle, Saviur and Ella Mae Cammarere of Gloversville and Benjamin Cammarere of Johnstown; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank Pacchiarotti, and her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Adam Bogdanchik.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the original Enea Family Funeral Home (FKA Holleran Funeral Service) 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315) 866-1011. Josephine’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning, September 2, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church on West German Street with Pastor Chris Schumske officiating.
