Obituary of Edna L. Dygert

JORDANVILLE – Edna L. Dygert, age 80, formerly of Kingdom Rd., Jordanville, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, with her family by her side.

 

She was born on February 22, 1937 in the Town of German Flatts, NY, the daughter of Leon and Mary (Waldron) Ward and attended Ilion schools.  Edna was married to Edward “Ed” Dygert in Ilion.  He died on June 10, 2011.  She was a member of Johovah’s Witnesses of Schuyler Lake.  Edna also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

 

Surviving family members include her 7 children, Alfred Dygert and his wife, Myra, of Mohawk, David Dygert and his wife, Betty, of Herkimer, Linda Thorton and Dave, of Herkimer, Michael Dygert and his wife, Brandy, of Frankfort, Lance Dygert and Connie, of Starkville, Clarence Dygert and Renee, of Ilion and Chris Dygert and Frances, of Herkimer; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Dygert, of Mohawk; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Donna Brown, of VA and Denise Treen, of Litchfield, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was predeceased by her husband,Ed; her son, Doug; grandchildren Sonia and Alfie; 4 brothers; and three sisters.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location at 102 West St., Ilion.

 

Edna’s Celebration of Life and Prayer service will be held immediately following visitation on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Reformed Church Cemetery, of Columbia Center, next to her husband, Ed.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Edna’s memory.

 

Edna’s service arrangements were prearranged and are entrusted to Family Friend and Funeral Director, Don Applegate.
