Obituary of James S. Jantosciak

NEW YORK CITY- Dr. James S. Jantosciak, age 75, passed away on September 7, 2017, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.

 

Born on February 20, 1942, in Little Falls, NY, James was the son of the late Samuel and Betty (Kling) Jantosciak. After graduating from Little Falls High School, he continued his education at Clarkson University receiving his Bachelors and Master’s Degree along with a Ph.D from Dartmouth College, all in the field of Mathematics. After James graduated with his Ph.D, he obtained a position with Brooklyn College, of which he spent his entire career as a Professor in Mathematics, until his retirement.

 

Not only did James have a passion to teach students in Math, he also enjoyed being part of the Mathematics Association and the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. In his spare time, he was an avid runner and cyclist, loved to travel and fine dine, and enjoyed playing a good game of racquetball.

 

James is survived by his brother, Robert Jantosciak and his nephew, Rob Jantosciak. He also leaves behind several cousins.

 

In keeping with James’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. His burial will take place at Church Street Cemetery in Little Falls, at the convenience of the family.  The family has requested that those wishing may contribute in James' memory to their favorite cancer society.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY.
