Obituary of Clinton W. "Clint" Fuhrer

ILION – Mr. Clinton W. “Clint” Fuhrer, age 67, a longtime resident of Ilion, passed away, peacefully, early Wednesday morning, November 8, 2017, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. He waited for the arrival of his entire family, to properly bid their farewells, before he passed.

Born on May 6, 1950, Clinton is the son of Elsie (Houghtaling) Fuhrer and the late Walter Fuhrer. He was raised and educated locally, and was a graduate of Ilion High School with the Class of 1968. On June 29, 1979, Clint was wed to the former Kathleen Seymour. Their marriage could only be described as excellent, never enduring a fight or a harsh word. Together they shared in a blessed and devoted union of almost thirty-eight years.

Hardworking by nature, Clint worked from the time he was a young man on farms and in various positions, before obtaining a position with Otis Eastern Services, based out of Wellsville, NY. He spent over twenty years travelling throughout the northeast for the pipelining business until his retirement in 2015.

Clint was a selfless, giving and stoic man who leaves a wonderful legacy to his children and grandchildren. He had been a member of the International Laborer’s Union since 1969. He will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind. “You might find a man like him, but you will NEVER find a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather better than him. You’ll be forever in our hearts.”

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathy; his mother, Elsie; his daughters, Becky Eysaman (Robin) of Barneveld and Vicky Lynch (John) of Ilion; his four grandchildren, Nicole Marchese, Thomas Marchese, Mackenzie Lynch and Noah Lynch; and his three great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Jace and Parker. He also leaves his brothers, Michael Fuhrer and Steven Fuhrer; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and special friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Walter, his brother, Ron Fuhrer, and his parents-in-law, Burton T. and Lola Seymour.

A special thank you is extended to Drs. Razia and Manela and the staff at Slocum-Dickson for the kind and compassionate care given to Clint for the past two years. The family is also thankful for Dr. Barr and the staff of Strong Memorial hospital and the generosity of the Hope Lodge in Rochester.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Clint’s calling hours which will take place on Tuesday morning, November 14, 2017, from 10:00AM – 12:00 NOON at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location at 102 West Street, Ilion (315)895-7722. A memorial service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday at12:00 NOON immediately upon the conclusion of visitation, with Elder Ken Palmer officiating.
