Obituary of John D. Palmieri, Jr.
HERKIMER – Mr. John D. Palmieri, Jr., age 83, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017, at Valley Health Services. His family is grateful for the excellent care he received while there.
He was born in Herkimer on November 23, 1933 a son of the late John, Sr. and Mary (Natale) Palmieri. He attended Herkimer schools and was a lifelong area resident. He served our country with the United States Army. On June 18, 1960 he joined in marriage with Antoinette “Toni” Petucci at St. Anthony’s Church in Herkimer, with Father Gustav Purificato officiating. John was a very talented brick layer with various construction companies throughout our area and even built his own home. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union. His family was absolutely everything to him, and to those he loved he dedicated his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Toni; his children, John Palmieri, Donald Palmieri and Robert and his wife Mary Palmieri all of Herkimer, four cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Makayla, Xavier and Noah, his brothers, Joseph and his wife Rosemary of Florida, Samuel and his wife Jenny of Gloversville, and William and his wife Janet of Herkimer, many nieces, nephews and cousins and In-Laws, Domenick and his wife Patricia Petucci, Philomena Tripolone and Josephine Palmieri.
He was predeceased by his son, David, his grandson, Joal, and his siblings, Angelina Marconi, and Albert, Leo and Benjamin Palmieri and his brother-in-law Phillip “Trip” Tripolone.
As per John’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. His family will gather privately to bid their farewells to him. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service, which will take place on Saturday morning, November 25, 2017 at 9:00AM at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, South Main Street in Herkimer, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Quy Vo, Pastor. Following the mass, the family will greet those in attendance. Interment will take place the following week at the convenience of the family, Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Those wishing may consider donations in memory of John Palmieri to St. Jude’s Tribute Program. Envelopes will be available at the Mass on Saturday.
