Obituary of Carolyn Ann Amendolare

FRANKFORT – Mrs. Carolyn Ann Amendolare, passed away in the comfort and privacy of her home on Saturday morning February 24, 2018. It was a blessing that Carolyn knew the love of her family that constantly embraced her, as well as her loving and compassionate caregivers that were also a source of strength and inspiration and always at her side.

A lifelong resident of Frankfort, NY, she was born there on July 22, 1924, a daughter of the late Girolamo and Vincenzia “Jennie” (Micciche) Licari. She attended Frankfort schools. On April 17, 1943 she joined in a sacred blessed union with the love of her life, Mr. Alfred D. Amendolare, Sr. This beautiful bond began with the sacrament of Holy Matrimony offered by Father Fufferd at St. Mary’s Church. She was a loving wife and was always together with her husband. Together they raised a wonderful family and Carolyn was an extraordinary mom. Her working career consisted of being head cook at Frankfort-Schuyler School District for 18 years. Carolyn was devoted to her Catholic faith, having attended Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and being a longtime member of the Altar Rosary Society as well as the Addolorata Society. She was constantly supporting the needs of children, regularly contributing to St. Jude’s Research as well as Lakota (Sioux) Native American Children. Her generous support was evident upon her ‘wall of awards,’ whereas in her home there are many framed certificates of acknowledgements in recognition of her hopes for a brighter future for the children. She was a past member of the Frankfort Free Library and enjoyed collecting a vast variety of bottle openers. Carolyn embraced the children, the school, and her family with the utmost amount of love we could ever ask for. We fondly look back on her support of her favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees, and her times spent enjoying playing Cryptoquote in the newspaper! She spent much relaxing time crocheting and was amazing with her cooking skills.

Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband, Alfred. The couple would have celebrated 75 years of marriage on April 17^th of this year. She is also survived by her cherished children, son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Amendolare, Jr., and his wife Linda of Frankfort, NY, daughters and sons-in-law, Georgiann Amendolare of Ilion, Carolyn Dunadee and her husband Richard of Frankfort, and Geraldine Simonette and her husband Sam of Frankfort. Carolyn was blessed with her beautiful grandchildren, Nicole Camarata and her husband Joe, Renee Maryott and her husband Ed, Carlaine Madia and her husband Frank, Cherri Ann Elefante and her husband Mark, Carol Lynn Zarnock and her husband Marty, Jeanna Simonette, Marie Simonette, Michele Mullin and her husband Marshall, Alfred Amendolare, III and Ellice Amendolare. And the joys of her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Maria, Michael, Courtney, Victoria, Grace, Shelby, Kyle, Ryan and Kala. Carolyn’s Sisters- In-Law survive her, Annette Amendolare of Frankfort and Helen Licari of Herkimer. She has a very special niece and nephew, Mary Frances and Jim Palumbo, dearest friends, Donna and Michael Schofield, Steve Salamone, and Martha Cobb, and many nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom she unconditionally loved.

Carolyn was always blessed with a large and caring family and dearly loved those who had passed before her, inclusive to her sisters, Rose Rizzo, Josephine Rolchigo, Frances Angelicchio, Florence Licari, Frances Licari and Marie La Monica, and her brothers John Licari and Jerry Licari.

Carolyn’s family was sincerely appreciative toward her amazing friends and attentive assistants who are credited with providing the care she needed and allowing her to maintain her presence in the comfort of home where she and her family wanted to be. There are so many to mention, yet such phenomenal care was offered by Kristy Aquino who was informatively in charge and cognitive of the sensitive surroundings all the time, working side by side with Karen Johns, Amy Yerdon, Amanda Frank, Wendy Williams and Gail Kaminsky among other family and friends. To all of you we thank you and love you.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 9:45 AM from The Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY and at 10:30 AM from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, Ny with Father Paul Catena Celebrating Her Mass of Christian Burial. Carolyn’s final resting place will be in her private family mausoleum, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, NY. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, Feb. 27^th from 3 until 7 PM at the funeral home. The Addolorata Society are asked to meet Tuesday at 4:30 PM at the funeral home for services.

Those wishing to remember Carolyn in a special way are asked to consider a donation in her memory to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
