Obituary of Ralph M. Servadio
HERKIMER – Ralph M. Servadio passed away on Wednesday. March 7, 2018 in Clermont, Florida.
He was born in Herkimer, New York, son of the late Angelo and Theresa (Manieri) Servadio. There he began a happy successful life. His memoirs, in his own words, will be printed in the near future (Ralph’s Memoirs and Stuff). He married the love of his life Mary (Mamie) Volo on June 8, 1946 in Little Falls, New York. Raised a family, built a home, loved spending days at their White Lake camp in Forestport, NY. He retired from General Electric Company in Utica, New York as a Quality Control Engineer. He was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph in Herkimer and Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont, Florida.
He served his country as a Radio Operator in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was most proud of his top-secret assignment in a covert mission to intercept clandestine Nazi radio messages at a remote monitoring station in South America. He received a medal from University of Central Florida for Veterans History Project. This interview is preserved in the United States Coast Guard Museum in Washington, D.C. along with an on-line interview and a published book.
He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie D’Ambrosio and husband Ronald of Clermont, Florida, daughter-in-law Sheila Servadio, a brother Sam Servadio, granddaughters JaNeen Morrison, Jennifer D’Ambrosio, Monica (Sean) McMahon and Sara (Jason) Hennig, great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ryan, Caitlin, Kaira, Sadie and Lucca; along with In-Laws Jean Petranto, Carmella Sweeney, Neva Volo and Vinny Servadio and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mamie, a son Angelo J. Servadio, grandchildren Michelle and Angelo, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Louis and Louise Servadio, Dominick and Jeanne Servadio, Mary Servadio, Anthony Servadio, Nebo, Joseph A. and Frank Volo.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 7, 2018 at 9:00 AM at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main Street in Herkimer, NY with Rev. Quy Vo, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
