Obituary of Dorothy M. Miller
MOHAWK – Miss Dorothy Miller, age 67, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center.
Born on July 31, 1950, Dorothy was the daughter of the late John H. and Sarah A. Miller. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. For many years, she was employed as a technician with the New York Telephone Company in Utica.
Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed music, especially classic rock and country. She also loved the outdoors, and her hobbies included boating, tending to her yard and spending time travelling, especially to the ocean. She also had a love for classic cars, crafting, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Most of all, she loved a good show. Between Holly and the kids and her thirty years spent around Wally’s night clubs and his friends who all loved her, it was one show after another!
She is survived by her companion of over thirty years, Wally Walthart, who she shared a trusting and loving relationship with. She also leaves a beloved daughter, Holly L. Markwardt and her husband, Andrew; her grandchildren, Ian Markwardt and Anna Markwardt; her brothers, Bobby and Vicki Miller of Maine, Jerry and Cindy Miller of Hartwick, NY, John Miller and Barb Bawolak of Florida and Jamie Miller of Florida; her sisters, Nancy and Arthur Brower of Mohawk, Joyce Miller of Florida, Loraine Quayle of Poland, NY, Jane Miller and Carl Bovay of Mohawk, Joan and Phil Bongiorno of Deansboro, Lisa Bowman and John Cannon of Florida and Cheri Shepard and Karl Bittner of Syracuse; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family is forever grateful to the nurses and staff of the Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center for the care and compassion shown to Dorothy throughout her stay with them. Also, a special thank you is extended to Dorothy’s sister, Jane Miller and Carl Bovay for all of their concern and support.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Dorothy’s visitation on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Private interment will take place at a later date in Mohawk Cemetery.
