Obituary of Walter A. Weston

Walter A. Weston, 86, of 104 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, formerly of 230 Fourth Avenue, Frankfort, passed away on April 26, 2018 at Little Falls Hospital.

Walter was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on February 5, 1932 to Elsie Thornhill Weston and Arthur W. Weston.  In 1949 Walter joined the United States Army and fought in the Korean War.  He was awarded with many medals of accomplishment.

On August 7, 1955, Walter and Joan A. Boardman were united marriage at the First Methodist Church in Herkimer.  Their marriage lasted 49 years, until Joan’s passing.

Walter was employed by Wonder Bread Bakery, based out of Utica, for many, many years before he retired.

Walter is survived by one brother, Jerry K. Weston of California, and four children, Robert C. Weston of Ilion, Tami W. McDole of Virginia, Christopher R. Weston of Utica, and Faith W. McLeod of Ilion.  He also leaves behind several beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth A. Weston and granddaughter, Amanda L. DiBrango.

Services and calling hours will be held at St. Augustine’s Church, 78 Second Street Ilion, on Friday, May 4.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.  Walter’s Funeral Mass with Eucharist will be celebrated by Bishop Dan Herzog at 6:00 PM.  Inurnment will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, NY.

Walter’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Claxton Manor and the Folts Home for the marvelous care and love shown to him.
