Obituary of Andrew P. "Andy" Barberio

FRANKFORT – Mr. Andrew P. “Andy” Barberio, age 61, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, May 27, 2018, with his loving family by his side.

Born on May 12, 1957, Andrew was the son of the late Gregory and Beatrice (Lamonica) Barberio. He was raised and educated locally, graduating with the Frankfort-Schuyler Class of 1975. He went on to further his education at Herkimer County Community College where he earned an associate’s degree in Construction Technology.

On July 18, 1981, Andy was wed to his childhood sweetheart, the former Donna Bellino, at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort. Together they shared in almost thirty-seven years of marriage; a union that was filled with love, devotion and a mutual respect for one another.

For over thirty years, Andy was employed with the Farmer Brothers Coffee Company as a Route Salesman, a position from which he recently retired. In his down time, Andy was actively involved in the Frankfort Kiwanis; a group that was very near and dear to his heart. He volunteered countless hours of his time giving back to the children and the people of his community.

“Big A”, as he was known to many of his closest family and friends, was a kind, patient and all-around nice guy, who never had a complaint and was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a tremendous athlete in his younger years and played baseball during his time at HCCC. Even as he got older, Andy could often be found playing a game of basketball with his buddies, or cheering on the Oakland Raiders.

He took meticulous care of his home and earned the nickname “Handy Andy” for everything that he could accomplish with his hands. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Donna; a proud father of his son, Andy; and an amazing grandfather to his beloved Adriana, who held a special place in his heart and lit up his life throughout these last few years. His family meant the world to him and he will be sorely missed by those that he leaves behind.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Sarah Barberio of Frankfort; and his cherished granddaughter, Adriana. He anxiously awaited the arrival of his soon-to-be second granddaughter. He also leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Linda Barberio of Frankfort; his in-laws, Dominick “Marley” and Gina Bellino of Frankfort, Joseph and Francesca Bellino of Utica and Grayce and Thomas Zielenski of Remsen; his nieces and nephews, Cory and Sarah Barberio, Erin and Jim Palombo, Dominica and Ryan Helmer, Joseph and Marlene Bellino, Angel Bellino, Francesca Bellino, and Thomas, Alicia and Austin Zielenski; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and an aunt, Michelle Conigliaro of Rochester.

Andy was blessed with a great group of friends who were by his side every step of the way, with special mention of John Cooper, Gary Caiola, Rick “Murph” Murphy, Jamie Pizzo, Sam Vivirito and Pete “Fumi” Fumarola. He was predeceased by parents, parents-in-law, and his friend, Angelo Riente.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Andy’s cousin, Renee Minasov, for her special care and commitment to him throughout his illness.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Andy’s visitation on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Andy’s funeral service will commence on Thursday morning, May 31, 2018 at 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Arthur Krawczenko. Private interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Frankfort Kiwanis Club, PO Box 333, Frankfort, NY 13340.
