Obituary of Bryan J. King

 

NORTH SYRACUSE – Bryan Joseph King, 75, of North Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2018 at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY, surrounded by family.

 

He was born on January 25, 1943 in Herkimer, NY, to Maurice J. and Anna (Halpin) King. He married Marge Tutty on December 29, 1962 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. He graduated from Mohawk High School in 1961, where he wrestled and was a lineman of the football team, including the football champions of 1961. Bryan worked at the Library Bureau for 28 years and owned and operated King’s General Contracting, until retiring in 2005. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army as a Military Policeman from 1962 until 1965. Bryan was a Fireman for the Mohawk Fire Department for 20 years, served as Fire Commissioner for the Town of German Flatts, and was a member of the Mohawk Exempt Fireman Association.

 

He is survived by his wife Marge King, his children, Christine King, James King and wife Tammy, Heath King and wife Jill, and Bryan King, Jr., and wife Carrie; Grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alexys, Andrew, Marshall, Zachary, Colby, Brian, Spencer, and Hayden; his brother-in-law and good friend James Tutty and his wife June; his longtime friend Jerry Burns; his step-sister Lucy Coher; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime furry companion, Heidi. He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Anna King, his step-mother, Doris King, his siblings, Francis King, Anne Muller and Raymond, Joan Doyle and Bill, and nieces Cheryl, Patti, and Susan.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday June 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, NY and at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will take place with military honors at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Calling hours are at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9AM until 10AM.
