Obituary of Herbert A. Brown

MOHAWK – Herbert “Herb” A. Brown, age 78, of Walnut St., Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.

He was born on February 7, 1940, in Herkimer, the son of Herbert R. and Emily (Bereza) Brown and graduated from Mohawk High School in 1958.  Herb was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.  On November 26, 1969, he was married to Kathleen Wollaber at the Mohawk Reformed Church.  They spent nearly 50 years building a life together and were blessed with two children and three beautiful grandchildren that were and will remain his pride and joy.  Mr. Brown was employed as a gun repairman at Remington Arms Co. for 44 years, retiring on June 2, 2006.  He attended the Mohawk Reformed Church.  Herb really enjoyed being outside connecting with nature and his pursuit of spotting a bald eagle.  Herb was a life long Syracuse basketball and football fan.  Those who were fortunate enough to know him will be forever touched by his loving nature, steadfastness and sense of humor.

Surviving family members include his wife, Kathy; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Scott Mold, of Bay Village, Ohio; his son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Lisa Brown, of Jamesville, NY; three grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Andy and Katie Mold; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.

Herb was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Russell Brown, and sister, Betty Guzski.
