Obituary of Thomas N. "Tom" Betti
FRANKFORT – Mr. Thomas N. “Tom” Betti, age 64, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 25, 2018. His passing occurred in the privacy and comfort of his home with his family by his bedside.
Born on June 10, 1954, in Scranton, PA, Thomas is the son of Sylvia Goyne and the late Angelo Betti. He was raised and educated in Frankfort, graduating with the Frankfort-Schuyler Class of 1972. On August 30, 1980, Tom was united in marriage with the former Kandy Smith, and together they’ve shared in thirty-eight years of mutual love, support and laughter.
For over thirty-five years, Tom was employed as a machinist with UTC (formerly Bendix Corp) in Rome, a position from which he retired due to his illness. As a hardworking man, Tom not only got up every day to support his family, but also put countless hours of time and effort into his home and especially into his fan cave.
As a proud member of Steelers Nation, Tom shared his love of Pittsburgh Steelers football with his family and his friends. He never missed a game on television and was very happy to have recently attended a home game at Heinz Field; even making the big screen as he excitedly waved his terrible towel and cheered on the team he held so dear.
Tom knew how to enjoy the simple things in life and was an all-around good time to be around. His sense of humor helped to carry him through the tough times and he maintained a positive attitude even throughout his illness. He was blessed to share a home with his granddaughters, whom he loved and cherished dearly. His legacy will live on through them.
Survivors include his wife, Kandy; his daughter, Brittny Betti; and his granddaughters, Emma Betti and Brielle Edwards. Always close to his heart was the memory of his son, Thomas J. Betti, who passed away on March 21, 2015. Tom also leaves behind his mother, Sylvia Goyne of Frankfort; his sister, Renee Betti and Robert Cushman of Frankfort; his brothers, Angelo “Jack” Betti and Cindy Messina of Frankfort, Bruce Betti of Florida, and David and Debbie Betti of Whitesboro; his in-laws, Norman Smith and Bonnie McLean and their families; and many close friends, too numerous to mention.
Besides his father and his son, Tom was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Norman and Patricia Smith.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Tom’s visitation on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Tom’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 7:00PM at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation.
Tom’s final wishes were pre-arranged and entrusted to Martin L. Ciaccia and Harry and Kevin Enea, funeral directors. Online notes of sympathy may be left at www.eneafamily.com.
