Obituary of Joseph E. Schwasnick

 

MOHAWK – Mr. Joseph E. Schwasnick, age 83, of State Route 5S, Town of Little Falls, died on September 8, 2018. His family was at his side at the Alpine Rehabilitation Center in Little Falls where he received excellent care.

He was born on January 24, 1935 in Little Falls, a son of the late John and Frances (Kauchich) Schwasnick and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. His marriage to Shirley Mabbett took place at St. Mary’s Church in Little Falls on June 2, 1956. Together Mr. & Mrs. Schwasnick owned and operated the Schwasnick Family Dairy Farm. Shirley passed away on November 20, 2014. Joe was a member of several farm organizations and was a Pioneer Sales Representative for thirty years. Joe attended Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kirk Schwasnick and his wife, Shelly, of Mohawk; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay Margevich and her husband, Robert, of Marietta, South Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Stevens and her husband, Charles, of St. Augustine, Florida; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 9:15 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer, NY and at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will take place in Mohawk Cemetery, (Village). Calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home will be on Wednesday September 12th from 5 until 8 PM. Please consider donations in memory of Joe in lieu of flowers to either the Alzheimer’s Association or to Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
