Obituary of David E. Miller

LITTLE FALLS - David E. Miller, of East Gansevoort Street, Little Falls, NY, passed away on October 6, 2018 after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Son of the late Robert E. “Dusty” Miller and Anna P. Lamanna Miller, David was born on November 5, 1959.

As a graduate of Little Falls High School, he attended Herkimer County Community College where he studied computer science. He pursued a career in manufacturing as well as human services.

Although Dave had worked for various organizations in both Boston and the Mohawk Valley, such as Teradine Corporation, General Electric, and the Herkimer Area Resource Center (HARC), he spent the majority of his career in the field of human services with HARC, as a Residential Advisor, Manufacturing Workshop Supervisor, and as an Employment Specialist. While serving as an Employment Specialist, which he truly considered a vocation, Dave was the recipient of the Above and Beyond Award granted by HARC, as well as a Certificate of Merit from Senator James L. Seward in 2013.

Daveʼs love and devotion to his family was always first and foremost in his life, which he expressed by word and deed daily. Some of the interests and talents that he shared with his family and friends included his passion for the fine arts, astronomy, classical music, animals, cooking, vintage cars and auto racing.

Dave predeceases his son, Nathan Miller of Little Falls, NY; his brother, Dr. James R. Miller of Plainesville, OH; his niece, Taylor Miller of Cleveland, OH; his nephew, Chase Miller of New York, NY; and a number of cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls.

A Prayer Service followed by a procession shall leave the Enea Family Funeral Home at 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls at 10:30 am on Friday, October 12, 2018 and proceed to the Holy Family Parish Church for a Catholic Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. to be celebrated by Fr. Terence Healy and followed by interment at St. Maryʼs Cemetery.

The family requests that any memorial contributions made in Daveʼs honor be presented to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502, or the Herkimer County Humane Society, P.O. Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
