Obituary of Kenneth Polley

Mr. Kenneth H. Polley, age 79, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away after a brief illness, on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

Born on October 10, 1939, Kenneth was the son of the late Edward and Ethel (Kyle) Polley. He was raised and educated locally. On June 3, 1961, Ken was wed to the former Gloria J. Brewer at the Ilion United Methodist Church and together they spent fifty-seven years in a loving and devoted union.

As a young man, Ken served in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era. Upon his return home, he obtained a position as a machine operator with the Remington Arms Co. He was a hardworking man who spent his career providing for the well-being of his wife and children.

In his spare time, Ken was able to enjoy the simple things in life. He was an avid reader as well as an outdoorsman who loved nature, working outside and especially cutting and splitting wood, to keep himself in shape. As an athlete, he was proud to have run in five Utica Boilermakers. Ken was a man of faith and of family. His legacy will live on through those that he leaves behind.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his sons, Ken Polley and his wife, Lisa, and Jeremy Polley and Colleen Groom, all of Ilion; his grandchildren, Megan Diehl, Hailey Polley and Jeremy Polley, Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Leah, Lexi, Jennifer and Bryce; his brother, David Polley of Massachusetts; his in-laws, Scott Byard and Vicky Meade and William and Barb Brewer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Ken was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer Polley, on January 17, 2013; by his brother, Edward Polley; and by his sister, Ruth Brewer.

Ken’s family will gather at a private time to say their goodbyes to his earthly body. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00AM at North Columbia Cemetery.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000.
