Obituary of Bernadette May St. Francis

 

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Bernadette May St. Francis, age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31st, 2018, at St. Johnsville Nursing Home.

 

Born in Swanton, VT, Bernadette was the daughter of the late Ernest and Joan St. Francis, of Swanton, VT. Along with her parents, Bernadette preceded in passing by George St. Francis, of Swanton, VT; and her former husband, Billy Ray Fields, of Cohoes, NY. Bernadette was a member of the Sovereign Republic of the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi, of Swanton, VT. She was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1964. She was employed at Friendly’s Home Parties, Albany County Home Daycare, and New York State Dept of Medicaid.

 

She was the mother of four adult children Billy Fields, of Troy, NY, Brian (Michelle) Fields, of Albany, NY, Bradley Fields, of Florida, and Barbara (Kevin) Sumner, of South Carolina. She left behind six grandchildren, Raymond Gibson III, Michael Sumner, Ashley (Aaron) Williamson, Isabella (Jake) Hepner, Christopher Sumner, and Taylor Fields. She also was survived by six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Michael Jr, Sophia, Noah, Nicholas, and Ethan; her siblings, Michael, Paul, and Roy St. Francis, and Theresa (Donald) Elliott; and several nephews and nieces.

 

Bernadette was an avid reader and she enjoyed a good mystery book. She loved shopping, her cats Midge and Bridgette, and playing Bingo.

 

There will be no viewing or funeral, as her wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of her life will be at a later date, for her ashes to be scattered in the Green Mountains of Vermont.
