Obituary of Melvin L. Hill
SCHUYLER - Mr. Melvin L. Hill, age 69, of Schuyler, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 14, 2018 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Mohawk Valley.
Born on September 25, 1949, Melvin was the son of the late Spurgeon and Rose (Baker) Hill. He was raised and educated in Frankfort-Schuyler Schools. On May 26, 1968, he was wed to the former Lois Barney in Mohawk, and together they shared in over 50 years of marriage. For many years, Melvin was employed as a Crane Operator with the Union Fork and Hoe Company in Frankfort, until its closing. Melvin loved the outdoors and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and enjoying the beauty of nature.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Lois; his son, Michael Hill of Ilion; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Michael Waller of Ilion; his granddaughters, Tanya Waller of Utica, Melissa and Ernest Clark of Ilion, Kasandra Waller of Florida and Samantha Waller of Utica; his fourteen great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Sylvia and Christina of Virginia. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Hill.
In keeping with Melvin's wishes there will be no formal funeral services. His final arrangements have been entrusted to the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Homes, Don Applegate, Martin L. Ciaccia and Harry and Kevin Enea, Funeral Directors.
