Obituary of Stacey "Jerry" Dunton

 

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Stacey “Jerry” Dunton, 98, a longtime resident of East Main Street, St. Johnsville, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Foltsbrook Center RNC, Herkimer, NY.

 He was born July 11, 1920, in Norridgewock, Maine, a son of the late Walter S. & Evie (Ellis) Dunton and served our country in the United States Army, World War II. He lived a happy life and was married to Viola Iacobucci on November 29, 1941, at St. Patrick’s Parish House and she died October 1, 2009. We fondly remember the days of “Jerry’s Diner” in St. Johnsville where he served the community as a short order cook. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, Blinded Veteran’s and the St. Johnsville American Legion. For over 40 years Jerry worked with Alcoholics Anonymous, working with and befriending many in need of support.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Blaydon, of East Boothbay, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five sisters and one brother.

Jerry had entrusted his final wishes with the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, in St. Johnsville, NY. Committal at St. Johnsville Cemetery will take place at a time convenient to the family and will be announced. The Funeral Directors assisting the family are Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L.
