Obituary of Raymond T. George

 

LITTLE FALLS – Raymond T. George, World War II & Korean War Veteran and longtime member of the Little Falls Fire Department, passed away on Saturday morning, January 26, 2019.

 

He was born on June 22, 1927, in Little Falls, NY, a son of the late Joseph and Marcella (Cotelli) George and was educated in schools here. He was united in marriage with Gerilda “Gerry” Polidori in 1952, a devoted union of nearly 50 years until her passing on April 17, 2001. Ray served our country during World War II at which time he was first drafted into the Army and served in the military police. He then entered the Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon coming home, Ray joined the City of Little Falls Fire Department, honorably serving the community for over thirty years. He retired in 1987. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish and the DeCarlo - Staffo Post. At one time he worked with Snyder Bicycle Factory and was a founding member of the Rock City Scuba Divers.

 

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Marchell and Philip Scarano, of Little Falls and Gina Johnson, of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jonni Allen (Brian McAfee), Philip Scarano (Jeanie – Marie Cowles), Tiffany Stowell Ardell, Christopher Heberer and Brittany Heberer; six great – grandchildren; In-Laws, Mary Jane Lamb and husband Ralph and Mary Ann George; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Joseph and Robert George; and sisters, Olga Capece, Mary Loucks and Frances Capece.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019, at 10:30 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.

 

Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. (315) 823-2424. Fire Departments will meet as a body at 6:00 PM.

 

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Ray to the Little Falls Firefighters Association, Local 2966. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
