Obituary of Laura Harris

 

ILION – Laura Harris, age 88, formerly of Prindle Apts., Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Grand Nursing Home, Ilion, with her family by her side.

 

She was born on June 5, 1930, in Ilion, the daughter of Arthur Bahr and Madeline (Currier) Bahr.  Laura attended North Street Elementary School, Ilion, Annunciation School, Ilion and Ilion High School.  At one time, she was married to Edwin J. Harris.  She later married Fred Smith who died in 1967.  In her early years, she was a sales clerk at Nichols Dept. Store, Herkimer.

 

Surviving family members include her children, Janet Evans and her husband, Dennis, of Clay, NY, Gerald Harris and his wife, Janice, of Ilion and Ken Harris, of Ilion; seven grandchildren, Barbara Fish, Jennifer, Stephanie, Phillip and his wife, Susan Harris, Gary, Trisha and Stacy Evans; nine great-grandchildren, Nate, Elisa and Olivia Evans, Abigail, Angela and Edwin Fish, Scottia and Celia Harris and Haidyn McCarthy; and several half-sisters and half-brothers.

 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger location at 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (old Main St. between Ilion and Frankfort).  Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours, at 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
