Obituary of Rosann (Paratore) Scialdone

HERKIMER – Mrs. Rosann “Ro” (Paratore) Scialdone, age 62, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, March 12, 2019 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

Born on December 5, 1956, Rosann was the daughter of the late Frank and Stella (Klys) Paratore. She was raised and educated in Frankfort and was a graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler High School. She then went on to continue her studies and attended Utica School of Beauty Culture.

On August 5, 1994, she was blessed to wed Samuel Scialdone, and together they shared over twenty-three years of marriage until Sam’s passing on December 28, 2017.

Ro spent her career as a beautician and loved her work, clients and friendships she made throughout the years. When she began her career, she first worked with her brother-in-law, John Scialdone, and then went on to start her own beauty shop on Main Street in Mohawk.

Family meant the world to Rosann and nothing gave her greater joy than family gatherings, holidays and any time that she spent with her brothers, nieces and nephews. She was famous for her Saturday morning fried meatballs and she was a truly gifted cook; this was something that she shared with those she loved and she will be truly missed by those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Salvatore “Beef” and Terry Paratore of Herkimer and Paul and Mel Paratore of Virginia; her nieces and nephews, Tricia and Justin Moore, Lori Paratore, Katy Paratore and Frank and Steph Paratore;  and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Frankie, Salvatore, Taylor, Matthew, Nick, Mary Lou, and Stella. She also leaves her in-laws, John and MaryJane Scialdone of Florida, Marie Scialdone and Loretta and Dave Atkins, all of Herkimer; a special aunt, Rose Guarniere of Frankfort; and many other cousins and extended family.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Ro’s visitation which will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the Enea and Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Her funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00PM at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of calling hours. Spring interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort.

For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Rosann’s final wishes were pre-arranged and entrusted to Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, Funeral Directors. Online notes of sympathy may be left at www.eneafamily.com.
