Obituary of Roger R. Jablonski

ILION – Mr. Roger R. Jablonski, age 69, passed from this world following a brief illness on Monday morning, April 22, 2019, in Herkimer, New York with the love and support of his beautiful wife and confidant, Joanne and his dedicated daughter Joanna always at his side to encourage and support him and maintain the highest level of comfort for him as possible. The family felt great comfort in the Foltsbrook Center as well, particularly on the 2nd floor, whose staff was just wonderful. There are family friends we would like to acknowledge as well, Steve and Colleen Pardi of the Medicine Shoppe in Ilion for their attentiveness to our needs, Dr. Mark Ainsworth who has always been at our side, Jack and Jim Fitzer for watching over us, and Jim Walczak for his professionalism and friendship.

Roger was born December 13, 1949, in Herkimer, New York, a son of the late Alice (Davis) Jablonski. He was raised in Mohawk, having attended schools there. He was a loving and faithful husband to the former Joanne Guido, marrying the love of his life on March 25, 1972, at Mohawk Reformed Church. He retired in June 1982, from Union Fork and Hoe, Frankfort, New York, as a Tru-Up Man. Roger was also well known throughout the valley for his wall papering and painting abilities, servicing many customers and friends with his handyman skills. At one time he enjoyed memberships with the Ilion and Trenton Fish and Game Clubs.

Among the many lessons Roger consistently demonstrated in our time together was this: love and be faithful to your wife, support, care for and adore your children, cherish your family and be an honest and admirable man. Live life to the fullest and cherish every moment and always remember, we must have a great sense of humor, as we all know Roger certainly did! This specialness that Roger bestowed upon all of us was especially passed down to his daughter, Joanna. Their bond together was inseparable. She was his whole life. They just loved to hunt and fish together and Roger excelled at target shooting as well. He loved to cook especially around the holidays which were some of his favorite times.

Roger is going to be forever missed by his surviving family members, beloved wife of over 47 years, Joanne; his daughter and best friend, Joanna Sweeney and her fiancé,  John Citrin, of Utica; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold Jablonski “Butch” and his wife, Judy, of Florida; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy LeClair and her husband, Tim, of Clockville, New York; several nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, David Skramko “Skrammy”. Roger is also survived by his In-Laws within The Guido Family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 1:30 PM, at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion, New York (Town of Frankfort). We anticipate being joined by Pastor David McCoy, family friend, to offer prayer. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, in Frankfort, New York. There will be a calling hour, at the funeral home, prior to the services on Thursday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM.

Online tributes may be extended to Roger’s family at www.eneafamily.com where a memorial page has been established in his memory. His arrangements have been secured with Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315) 894-8000.
