Obituary of Patrick A. Corridori

UTICA/VERONA BEACH– Mr. Patrick A. “Pat” Corridori, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 18, 2019 at the Masonic Care Community of CNY where he has been a resident for the past year. His family is forever grateful for the genuine care and compassion he received there throughout his stay.

Born on October 21, 1929, Patrick was the son of the late Joseph and Esther (Debernardis) Corridori. He received his education in Utica schools and after his graduation from high school he went on to enlist in the United States Army. He was a proud veteran who served his nation during the Korean Confict from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.

It was on November 7, 1970, that Pat was wed to the love of his life, the former Sandra M. (Castelli) Valeriano. Together they shared in over forty-two years of a marriage graced with common values and regard for one another, setting a great example to the generations that followed. Sandra passed unexpectedly on September 3, 2013 and a piece of Pat’s heart went with her that day; his family is comforted by the notion that the two of them are together once more in eternity.

Pat was a hard worker and for over fifty years, he owned and operated the Clean Corner Market on Kossuth Ave in Utica. He was also well-known for his friendly and outgoing nature at Walmart in North Utica where he was employed as a greeter for eighteen years.

Well-respected within his community, Pat’s genuine and sincere demeanor was known by all who crossed his path. He was a role model for his three sons and their families and his generosity touched many lives along his journey. He and his wife Sandra established a second home in Verona Beach, which was truly a place of beauty and peace for them. Their doors were always open to the many family members and friends that they surrounded themselves with throughout the years.

His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind and his unique Italian one-liners will always live on in the perfect situations. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Gina Corridori of Utica, Alfred and Angela Valeriano of Frankfort and Philip and Terese Valeriano of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Patrick Corridori, Gino Corridori, Alaina and Todd Phillips, Aleese Valeriano and Tanner Metoyer, Danielle Valeriano and Vincent Valeriano; and his great-grandchildren, Levi and Mariana. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Shirley Catera and Karen Mender; a niece, Deidra Marks; a special friend, John Nole; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends, with special mention of his friends at the beach, Avie and Ray Hanson, Jessica Hanson and Ray and Kathy Ulrich, who always looked out for him.

Besides his parents and wife, Pat was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Alexander “Luxy” Karathnas and Marie and Salvatore DePalma; and his in-laws, Phyllis “Ish” and Joseph “Click” Calicchia, Michael Catera and George Mender.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Pat’s visitation which will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. His funeral service will commence on Friday morning, May 24, 2019 at 10:00AM at Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler, Pastor. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.

For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to the Amazing Gracie’s Gift Foundation, PO Box 134, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
