Friends, I am not quite sure if this is a proper way to thank all of the family and friends who took the time to post messages in honor of my dad, but I will post this message anyway. Thank you all so very much for your kind words and thoughtful prayers in our great time of sorrow. For those of you who knew dad, he would want no tears or sympathy. He was a man of great pride and dignity, which commanded respect. His loss will be a daily ache for some, and for others, it will come at a time where his presence will be missed, like sporting events and fund raisers and other community events. Dad was a man's man, in living that life as such, very rarely did his soft side show, but when it did, the tears would flow. Thank you all again from all of us. May God tightly wrap his arms around you and there be no more suffering my daddy, God Speed. Love you always, forever. Lorraine.

Josie, Charlie, Lori, Bobby Jr. and Brian, I exend my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to you and yours in this time of grief. Bobby was the most influential force in the formative years of so many youth in our community and wil be sorely missed. I remember vividly watching him and my father playing softball together back in the 60's and 70's and I always reveled in the stories my dad would tell me about Bob and his wild days in the valley. The morning after my Dad's funeral, my Mom and I went to breakfast and Bobby happened to be there and he related to me and Mom how much he loved and respected my Dad and how he always felt safe when he was with the ol' man. He Said "I'd follow Davey anywhere". He also made sure that my Dad got a flag on his grave honoring his military service. I remember him stating that when Dad first got out of the army he lived with "Papa George" and AnnaMae and how he would drive George crazy when he would be sorting the scrap metal and throwing the copper into the brass pile and vice versa and how George would shudder when he called him Papa! Lori, I had heard of your Dad's illness through my cousin Barb and I not only want to express my sympathy but also my respect for your Dad. I attended my cousins Elk of the Year party when I witnessed your Dad's strength to help a women in desperate need for her life and your Dads emotions when his job was well done proved what a caring and loving man he was. I will never forget during my battle with cancer, he presented me with a framed picture of Mickey Mantle, which now hangs in my son's room. My father thought very highly of this great man and so did I. While it is always sad to see such a great person leave this world, we are better to have had a person like Mr McCumber leave such a lasting impression on our lives. Rest in peace.

Aunt Josie and Family... When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. This is what the memories of Uncle Bobby will now be to all of us treasures that we can hold dear to us. I was so sorry to hear of the passing of such a great uncle, friend and hero. Though the loss will leave a hole; the memories will always make me smile. I hope at this time you can smile and rejoice him for his life and the achievements he has made. After loosing my mother-in-law to cancer this past fall someone passed this poem on to me and I thought maybe it would help us all in time of sorrow. "Cancer is so limited . . . Bob's family, I am deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was a dear friend and a "true" representative of the Little Falls community. To Bob's family: So sorry to hear of Bob's passing As one of the messages said,he's been released from the pain and suffering after what was apparently a very full and productive life. I lived in Little Falls about 1945-1951 and went to Church St. School with Bob and Roger (lived at 109 Church St.) Upon returning to L.F., (after nearly 50 years) for Canal Days, I was very pleased to meet and see Bob again and share memories of those years (Church St.School our teachers, Coach Crisp,etc).Learned of the super athletic teams Bob was a part of in high school. To the McCumber family: I was very saddened to read of Bob's passing. I worked very closely with Bob on two projects. When I was LF summer recreation director in the early 1970s, Bob was in charge of the adult basketball program and did an outstanding job! When I was writing the Coach Crisp book, Bob was one of my primary resources. Again, his passion for the project was unbelievable. Bob was extremely helpful and I always enjoyed working with him.
