Uncle Wally was always very kind and generous to me growing up as a child. He and Janet are the only Aunt and Uncle that I really spent any time with so I can easily say they were my favorites.I have very fond memories of spending weekends with them and the kids. I was 6 yrs. old when my mom left home. My Dad was not in great health either and there was still 9 kids living in our home. Wally and Janet, who were newleyweds (only married about 6 months at the time) moved in with my Dad and prevented us all from being separated or put into foster care. For the next 7 yrs. (from 1st grade through 8th) Wally and Janet raised myself and 8 more of my brothers and sisters. Wally and Janet were in the process of starting their own family, so Julie and Sean came along and I grew up along side of them for a long time. During that time I really thought there couldn't have been a meaner person. I wasn't allowed to do a lot of things that other kids could do. I got soap put in my mouth for speaking out of line and we all had to do chores around the house. Let me tell you, there's a lot of dishes and laundry for 12 or 13 people, and heaven forbid if we tried to rush through the dishes and they were still dirty or soapy, because Wally would dump them back in and make you do them right. When I was entering 8th grade some of the family decided it would be best to send the last 4 of us with other family members. I spent the next 2-1/2 yrs. in 4 different brothers and sisters homes, but couldn't settle anywhere. When I was approaching 16 I asked to go "home". I returned to Wally and Janet's home in the middle of 10th grade and stayed there until I graduated and went out on my own. I am the person I am today because Wally and Janet cared enough NOT to let us do what other kids were doing. I work hard and take pride in things because we were shown to do things right. I speak kindly to others and treat others with respect because of the soap in my mouth. My only regret is not telling Wally how much I appreciate him raising me. I just recently moved back after being out of state for 12-1/2 yrs. and I had just recently talked to a couple of the other kids about taking him out to dinner to show him how we felt. I know Wally is not "technically" my father, but I wanted everyone to know that to me he was "The Next Best Thing" and I will miss him. Love, Pam

Sean & Rachel I was so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I wish I could be there to give you a hug and tell you that with time your wonderful memories will ease the sorrow you feel right now. When I was 9 yrs. old I moved from the streets of Philly to Vickerman Hill. It was a shock going from a cement yard to a cow pasture, but the first family I was introduced to was the Everson family. I quickly became a permanent fixutre in their household, which was Run by Janet and Wally. Pam and I were inseparable. Which means as small children, when Wally yelled at Pam, we had to fix the problem together or were punished together. As pre-teens were were convinced Wally was nothing but a tyrant. As teens we put Janet and Wally through Hell. For a brief period of time, Pam lived with other relatives, but I was still at Janet and Wally's every day. There came a time when my mother was at her wits-end on how to handle me. She called Janet and Wally and they took me everywhere they went, without ever a complaint. As adults, families and miles separated Pam and me for eighteen years. Now we are once again inseparable and speak of Wally on a regular basis, with only kind words to say about him. Just two weeks ago I was at a family picnic where I hopped on Wally's lap and gave him a big hug. I'm glad I was able to show him that the little girl he helped guide for 9 years, still thought of him very fondly. Sean and Julie, you are blessed by having such a wonderful man as a father. I just wanted to say how sorry I am of your dads passing, this a very trying time for the whole family,My heart cant comprehend what you are going through. I want to wish sean, julie, my step mom pam, aunt sharon, uncle mike, aunt janice, aunt sandy, aunt cheryl, my brother christopher, jeremy, and my sister sherri, and the extended family. My prayers are with you all,this is a trying time that either will break a family,or join the family.We all have to be strong and together we can beat anything. We might not understand what happen, butwe can come out stonger. Sean and julie I only met your father a couple of times, but every time he was a joy to be around. He would come to see my Dad in the hospital, and it would cheer my dad up to see him, uncle walter would come and bust on my Dad, and my Dad would turn to him and say mind you own buisness. In that he brought a smile to all our faces ,and making my Dad smile ,and laugh I want to thank you.I also hope that when its my Dads turn to go that uncle walter will be there at the gate of heaven to help my dad. In the midst of life uncertainties, may God bless you with stregth to cope, and faith to believe in each new tomorrow. I love you all, and may we find the strengh that we need to get passed all of this. Good bye uncle wiley I might have not known you that well, but you will be sorely missed.
