Obituary of Walter Madison

ILION-Mr. Walter Charles Madison, of Ilion, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2007, in Westmoreland. His untimely passing was the result of injuries received in an automobile accident. In respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at memorial calling hours from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007 in the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., between Ilion and Frankfort, 894-8000. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider memorial offerings to a memorial fund that will be created with donations to be used toward his grandchildren?s education. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Walt was born on September 14, 1945, son of the late Walter E. and Vivian (Graff) Madison and attended area schools. He proudly served with the U.S. Army from 1963-1965 and was employed for over 31 years with Union Tools until his retirement in 2003. He has resided in Ilion for the past twenty years. Walt treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had three major enjoyments in his life: his grandchildren, the casino and his coffee time. The family thanks his coffee buddies Richard Hall, Andy Trask, Bill Shaut, Don Varin, Sr., Don Burton and Roy Lyle for their dedicated friendship. Walt also loved taking trips to Florida with his family. He leaves his son: Sean Madison and wife Rachel of Ilion, a daughter: Julie Madison of Ilion; five grandchildren: Emily and Ethan Madison, Cody Davis, Kaitlyn and Steven O?Donnell; one brother: Mike Macrina and wife JoEllen of New Hartford; five sisters: Sharon Yager and husband Bill of Mayfield, Cheryl Culver and husband Dave of Little Falls, Pamela Woodbeck and husband Alton of Herkimer, Sandy Majka and husband George of New York Mills and Janice Miller of Mayfield; many nieces, nephews, in laws, close friends and extended family. He was predeceased by one brother: Joseph Madison; one sister: Corrine Short; and by two brothers in law: Joseph Short and Jack Miller.
