Obituary of Richard Redmond

Richard "Dick" W. Redmond, age 61, formerly of 2 Cottage St., Ilion and Barneveld, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 12, 2006. He was born on November 18, 1944 in Utica, the son of Dr. Albert C. Redmond and Louise (Wingert) Redmond and graduated from Holland Patent High School. He had been a recent resident of the HARC Residence at 2 Cottage St., Ilion. Dick loved the great outdoors and recognized birds and loved fishing. He was outgoing, friendly and loved to joke with people. He was also passionate about learning despite suffering a head injury at age 14. Dick will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Survivors include his four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dr. Sandra Redmond of Lyndhurst, OH, Carole and Ken Beckwick of Fitzwilliam, NH, Margaret and John Hopkins of Andes, NY, Elizabeth Redmond of Rockport, MA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Robert Redmond and his wife, Pati, of Frederick, MD, Douglas and Barbara Redmond of Silver Spring, MD; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He is also survived by friends and caregivers at HARC. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Dr. Albert and Louise Redmond; and his stepmother, Nancy Redmond. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, April 21, 2006, at 4 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion with Rev. Paul Bailey, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 3 p.m.- 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
