My grandmother was a wonderful person. Anyone who knew her, loved her. She was to be 90 years old yesterday, July 8th. She said she didn't want to be 90 years old. She said 'Who wants to be 90 years old?' That's too old! Well, she got her wish. She never saw 90 years on earth, but, she will live forever in those of us she left behind. I had purchased her birthday cards a fews ahead of time, something I never do! I had purchased 2 of them, one for turning 90, and one for being my grandmother. I bought these when I saw them because the words were fitting for her: "you're a collection of all your years, your stories, your glories, your troubles, and tears. Tales of a lifetime live in your eyes. You are 90 years wise. You're a connection to faraway places that live in thoughts of good times and dear faces. Your history shines in you. Fills you with light. You are 90 years bright. You 're a reflection of all that you've known. Of people who've loved you. Of kindness you've shown. Of all that you are. and all that you do." My grandmother had asked me a few months back why God hadn't taken her yet. She asked me when was it going to be HER time to go? She said she was ready and that she was tired. I said to her then that it didn't matter what SHE thought, that it was up to God and that when it was her time to go, he would tell her. I told her that obviously God didn't agree with her, that he was keeping her here for a reason. She was in the hospital at the time, it was back in March. She was there to get rest and to try to get her bp down. Well, I guess the Almighty Father decided now was HER time. Though all of us here on earth sadly miss her, I know she is where she is supposed to be. My grandmother was a very strong woman. Her family was her life. As long as she had her family around her, she was happy. All she ever wanted was for her family to be together, be happy, and to love each other. And oh yes, one last thing..she wanted to hit the lottery so that she could give her family everything that they ever wanted! We all truly miss her.. but her smile, her laugh, her love, her memory... will live on in all of us. She will always be with us in our mind and spirit! Rest in peace Non, your job here on earth was done. Now we can talk EVERYDAY. Life's busy schedules will no longer be in the way. Til we meet again...
