Obituary of Ann Sweet

Mrs. Ann Rose (LiBritz) Sweet, age 89, a lifelong resident of Frankfort and most recently of Claxton Manor, Herkimer, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday evening, July 1, 2006. Her passing occurred in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 8, 1916 in Frankfort, daughter of the late Calogero and Antonia (Conoscenti) LiBritz and was educated in Frankfort schools. On April 24, 1937, Ann was joined in marriage with Charles P. "Boots" Sweet in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. The couple had shared a union of almost 70 years, one that was characterized by their true love, their mutual devotion, and their respect for one another. Ann was employed with several local dress factories and was at one time employed by Remington Rand and lastly with Union Fork & Hoe, retiring on October 1, 1979. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. Ann was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Community of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she will be deeply missed by all who had the priviliege of knowing her. To know her was to love her. Ann was truly respected by all. She was very proud of her Italian heritage passing the customs and traditions of generosity and love to her family and friends. She loved her home, especially when she welcomed and entertained her loved ones for holidays, and special occasions. Whether it was parties, dancing or eating out, Ann was a people person and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She always dressed well and presented herself in a well-respected, dignified way. She is survived by her beloved family including her husband: Charles "Boots" Sweet; a daughter and son in law: Barbara and Frank Terras of Frankfort, one son and daughter in law: Pastor Charles J. and Sharon Sweet of Utica; one brother and sister in law: Michael and Sarah LiBritz of Frankfort; one sister: Mary Deasy of Ohio; inlaws: Angelo and Mary Sweet of Frankfort, Joseph and Katherine Sweet of Newport, Nick and Ada Sweet of Texas, Josephine Tartaglia of Utica, Carmella Louise Walawender of Herkimer and Bertha Sweet of Herkimer; seven grandchildren: Julie and Richard Perri, Barbara Palumbo and friend Mark Tomaino, all of Frankfort, Valerie and Robert Krautheim of Florida, Jason and Marsha Sweet, Jeremy and Andrea Sweet, Jordan and Erica Sweet, and Justina and Donny Lowe, all of Ilion; eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by three sisters: Mildred Daley, Susan DeLuke and Sunta "Sally" Palmiero. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Frankfort and Ilion, (894-8000) on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. Friends are reminded that Acme Road is open but should be driven on with caution. Because of the difficult driving conditions, you may contact the funeral home for a ride to calling hours. The Young at Heart Senior Citizens will gather at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday to conduct their service. Mrs. Sweet's funeral will begin at 9:15 am on Thursday, July 6, 2006 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:00 am from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas, Jr., pastor. Procession will follow to All Souls Chapel of Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, where committal prayers will be offered. Interment will follow in the family plot. The family offers its heartfelt gratitude to the many relatives and friends who have offered their support, comfort, strength and encouragement during this difficult time and for being a part of Ann's life. They would also like to thank the nursing staff of St. Elizabeth's ICU and Fourth Floor, Special Care Unit, for their loving care during Ann's stay. Thank you to the staff and residents at Claxton Manor for the care and friendship given to Ann.
