As a child, I remember our many visits to New York. Driving up from Baltimore with 4 children in the car was, I?m sure a daunting task for my parents, but we were rewarded with the warmth and love of our family in ?the valley?. All of them greeted us warmly, but my Cousin David and Judy?s house was a special place. I have all the same memories as my brother mentioned above. I would only add the potato chip trick David had taught his dog. I sat in childhood amazement as Nuge would sit as still as a statue as David placed a potato chip on Nuge?s nose. Nuge would not budge until David said it was ok. Nuge would then flip up his nose, catching the chip in mid air! It was obvious that David was as excited as we were when we visited. His great big smile, his strong handshake, and his hearty hug all made me know I was loved. As often happens when someone dies, I sit here pondering my own life. A thought that carries me, is that the best we can hope for in life is to leave fond and loving memories in the hearts of our family and friends. David most certainly succeeded in this and he will be greatly missed. But I am not sad. I know we will visit again. And I look forward to his big smile, his strong handshake and his hearty hug.
