Obituary of Jay Countryman
Jay R. Countryman, 71 of 103 Hoffman road, St. Johnsville, passed away Unexpectedly on Friday November 26, 2004 at Albany Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1933 in St. Johnsville the son of Dorothy (Youker) Countryman and the late Kenneth S. Countryman. Jay was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and furthered his education at SUNY. Mr. Countryman was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, enlisting on March 18, 1953 and was honorably discharged on June 6, 1955 with the rank of Private First Class. Jay was last employed at Labor Union # 35 in Utica. At one time he was Supervisor of the Former Palatine Dye Co. in St. Johnsville. With family as his foremost priority, Jay proved himself as a loving and caring father and grandfather, always there when his sons? needed him and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman Jay enjoyed all outdoor activities especially hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy of St. Johnsville, 3 sons, Jay Countryman and wife Jennifer of Dolgeville, Michael Countryman and wife Ginger of St. Johnsville, and Patrick Countryman and wife Amy of St. Johnsville; 2 brothers; Kenneth Countryman and wife Gretchen of Winfield, Ill., and Gerald Countryman and wife Jean of St. Johnsville; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Countryman, Abigail and Connor Countryman and Christopher Countryman; 1 aunt, Harma Wagner of Dolgeville; 1 uncle, Ray ?Bud? Youker of Dolgeville, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Douglas Countryman and a sister Evadean Andrilla. He was a member of the Sprite Club, Little Falls Polish Home, St. Johnsville American Legion Post # 168, and the DeCarlo ? Staffo Post #8. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Tuesday November 30, 2004 at the Roberts ? Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY from 6-8pm. All memorial contributions may be made in Jay?s memory to the local Veteran?s Agency. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
