Obituary of Michael Mergenthaler
Mr. Michael J. Mergenthaler, Sr., age 58, of 346 McGowan Road, Ilion (Town of Frankfort) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 12, 2004. He was born on November 20, 1946 in Ilion, and had attended schools in St. Johnsville, where he was a Graduate of St. Johnsville High School. Mike later went on to attend Mohawk Valley Community College and graduated from there, an accomplishment that he was very proud of. While at MVCC, he had made the President's List. On July 3, 1965 Mike joined in marriage with Marietta DiSano at St. Mary's Church in Frankfort. Mike and Marietta have enjoyed their life together, sharing in a relationship in which they have been blessed with many happy times and an abundant family that they deeply cherished. Mike's working career consisted of 33 enjoyable years with Chicago Pneumatic in Utica. At one time he had also worked with Burrow's Paper Mill in Little Falls. He currently was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion where he worked as a Toolmaker. He was a member of the Ilion Moose Lodge, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors. Mike enjoyed bowling also, and bowled in the Ilion Bowling League with the Remington Arms Team, and also enjoyed the Co Ed League with his wife Marietta. Mike considered his family to be his first and foremost priority. He was committed to the well being of his loved ones and was always interested and involved in their lives. He will be dearly missed by many. He is survived by his beloved family including his wife: Marietta; his mother: Grace Mergenthaler; his children: Frances Tubia and her husband Steven of Frankfort; Michael J. Mergenthaler, Jr. and his wife Kelli of Orlando, FL; Chad Mergenthaler and his wife Brandy of Altmar, NY; and James Mergenthaler and his fiancee Nicole of Orlando, FL; his cherished grandchildren: Antonia Accattato and her husband Nick; Josh Tubia; Adrienne Tubia; Jordan and Lorenzo Mergenthaler and Logan James; two sisters: Margaret Remp of Utica, and Lillian Oram and her husband Cliff of Ilion; two brothers: David Mergenthaler Sr. and his wife Robin of Ilion; and Frederick Mergenthaler and his wife Joanne of Orlando FL; his mother in law: Frances DiSano of Frankfort; and brothers in law: Blase DiSano and his wife Sherry of Frankfort; Charles DiSano of Frankfort and John DiSano and his wife Gina of Frankfort; along with several aunts and uncles and many very special nieces nephews cousins and friends. Mike also leaves his very dear and close friend, Ronnie Brinck, who Mike spent many memorable times with. He was predeceased by his father Frederick Mergenthaler and his father in law: Blase DiSano (who was also like a father to Mike) and most recently by his twin grandsons: Blase and Daniel Mergenthaler. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 16, 2004 at 9:15 AM from the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street Between Ilion & Frankfort and at 10:00 AM from Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort Street Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, Pastor Emeritus. Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Wednesday (Tonight) from 4 - 8 PM.
