i just found out about your passing, it has been a very very long time since we have seen each other.. i really cant remember much but i know that you were a great man, i know that because you adopted me when i was young and you took me in when you were married to my mother.. i am eternally grateful for what you did for me!! may you rest in peace

Fred & Walt- I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Mackie. I just found out yesterday as I was away last week. You were all like older brothers to my sisters and I while growing up on the farm. We had a lot of good times. I can't believe he's gone. Please know my thoughts are with you.

Fred & Walt: So sorry to hear the news about Mackie. We have been out of town for a few weeks. We and our family have many fond memories of Mackie and you both. When he worked for us on the farm he was always smiling and his laugh was contagious. He was a hard working, very smart individual. Much too young to leave his family and friends so early in life. Sorry for your loss, I graduated with Mackie in 1983, we were good friends. We talked a few years back and kind of caught up. I did not realize he was sick. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Walt and Fred, We are so sad to hear the news. We have been sharing memories of fishing trips, skiing, camping, and just hanging out. Even though we lost touch after moving, we never have forgotten our good friends. Scott especially thought of Mackie and you guys like brothers. We are sorry we can't be there, but our prayers are with you all. Hope to see you on our next trip up.

Growing up in high school. Mackie, Cy and I were like brothers. When we were missing, our mothers would call each other to see if where the 3 boys were. My prayers are with his family at this time. He will be missed very much.

To my brother-in-law, Fred, and my sister, Teresa, I cannot believe the emptiness Mackie has left us to deal with his passing. He needed to just talk to you both each night and you always listened unconditionally. The kids' birthdays and picnics are going to go on with lots of laughter, but that handsome smile and laugh of Mackie's will bring tears for a long time to come. George and I can only say Mack had such a unique kindness and a level of "giving" that surpassed any other. To Mack, rest in peace always! We'll meet again someday...Love you all!

We were shocked to hear of Mack's passing. Our Deepest Sympathy to the Hastings family.Our Son Wayne was a classmate of Mack's and we will always remember the good times they had together.
