Obituary of William E. Ekstrand

ILION: William E. Ekstrand Sr., 72, a long time Ilion and Frankfort resident passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center with the love and support of his family members at his side. William was born in Utica on March 22, 1942, the son of the late Oscar and Vivian(Clemens) Ekstrand. Raised and educated locally, he attended Clinton High School. William proudly served his country from 1964-1967 in The United States Army fighting in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the army, William returned home to work for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company and the Frankfort Schuyler School District. On April 17, 1971 he married the former Vivian Hill in Clinton; the couple sharing 43 years of love and devotion toward each other. He was a proud member of the Ilion and Frankfort Communities along with being a lifelong member of the Frankfort VFW post 502. William enjoyed fishing with his son, hunting, watching auto racing and working on numerous crafts with his wife Vivian. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; a son, William Jr. and his wife Jennifer; a daughter, Denise F (Ekstrand) Steele; a sister, Sharon E. Allgood; his beloved grandchildren, Terry Ekstrand, Isabella Ekstrand, Larisa Ekstrand and his favorite grandchild Olivia Ekstrand. He was predeceased by his sister, Terry.
